MYSTAGOGY

is the

completion of the RCIA

which enables the participant to

discover how the Lord is calling

the neophyte to fulfill the mission

given by Jesus.

Statistics have shown that only a little over half of the neophytes of those received into full communion remain committed to the Church and its mission after their Baptism or reception into full communion.

The Rite of Christian Initiation as developed and promulgated by the Second Vatican Council provides for a continuing of the initiation process during the year after Baptism or reception into full communion.

Gradually, parishes in the various dioceses of the United States are providing a mystagogy process of this type. One program developed for this purpose offers a manual for the RCIA leaders and a special text for the neophyte. Monthly meetings are designed to begin in September and ending on the Feast of Pentecost, the anniversary of their Baptism or reception into full communion. People completing this process are helped significantly to be "fully incorporated into the full life of the Christian community." (#24 National Statutes)
